A little bit about me and the things I care about.
People often ask me what I do at work. I run public health programs for medical students. I teach about population health, disparities in health, health policy, and advocating for change.

If you want a great glimpse into the things I'm passionate about at work, I encourage you to watch Unnatural Causes - a 4-part PBS documentary airing Thursdays at 10-11pm on PBS, starting tomorrow, March 27.

It's a fascinating look at injustices, poverty, racism, classism, and their effects on health. I've spent all my public health education studying this, I teach it now, and I work on projects to create change. It's hard work to create change like this. It takes more than just public health people, more than medical people, it takes all of us to change how decisions are made that affect income and wealth, educational access, and economic mobility.

Funny Pages

At a dinner plagued by strangeness, too much heat, and looniness, there were some seriously bizarre moments.

Incident 1 (Eating at a japanese restaurant)
Waitress (with thick japanese accent): hot tea?
T: Hello? Yes! I'm happy! How are you?
Waitress: Hot tea?

Incident 2 (While talking about the upcoming moving Made of Honor)
T: Have you heard about that new movie "Made of Honor" about a guy being the "maid of honor." But, it's "Made" like M-A-D-E.
J: huh?..like mad?
E: No....made...M-A-D-EEEEEE!!

Incident 3 (While T was calculating his approximate value if he were frozen yogurt toppings sold by weight).
Looking at his calculator that said $811.
T: Dude, if i were a topping, I'd be worth Eight hundred eleven-eleven dollars!
Everyone: Eleven-eleven?!
T: Hahaha! I saw the two 1's and read "eleven-eleven!"

Happiness.
I *heart* this photo. And I *heart* these girls. Yay for groups of 4 and our upcoming roadtrip...to uh....it's a mystery. Not a secret. A secret would require one of us to actually know where we're going! I can't believe that I've known all of these girls since I was 16 if not earlier!

Growing up is hard

On a last-minute, random, girls' trip, I left town for a weekend. Took off to Sedona to find some center, think, enjoy the outdoors, and get a massage.

It was a great weekend, despite the forever adventure to get there. We didn't quite expect to drive through a blizzard to get there. But, if you've never been to Red Rock Country, you should definitely go.

I spent every morning in a coffee shop full of locals, hippies, and snowbirds, drinking the best Chai ever, listening to music, and reflecting. Being a newlywed, moving away from my community, in a job that isn't quite in line with my career goals, not sure what my career goals are, friendships changing as we all enter different stages of life. In the words of L, "high school sux."

It's hard feeling like childish hopes and dreams have to be put away for practicality and stability. I'm not ready yet!

But, alas, you did not come here to listen to my ramblings but to see pictures!
