It was one of my coworkers' last day today. She left at 1:00pm. At 12:50pm, I called our HR people. They told me that she had to write a letter of resignation. There are three drafts of the letter. All of which are equally hilarious.

Draft 1
Dear PHFE:

Effective September 27, 2001, I quit.

Draft 2
Dear PHFE:

Effective 9/27/01, I will not be working here anymore. If you need me to sign something, send it to Evelyn Tu. She will forge it.

Draft 3 - and the final letter
Dear PHFE:

Effective 9/27/01, I have been accepted as a Fullbright Scholar for 2001-2002. I will no longer be working for CEP. My resignation is effective in 10 minutes at which time I will be driving to Seattle and then getting on a plane to Africa. If you need any further information, please contact Evelyn Tu. Thank you.
